Start to finish it is a journey

"It is not where you start but where you finish that counts" Zig Ziglar

Everyone has a story, everyone is on a journey and no matter where you started in life it really only matters where you finish.

It is easy to look at people and judge, you may judge someone is a particular way because whatever reason, but you may actually be wrong.

See some people may seem like they have their life together and other people will put these on a pedestal thinking they are awesome and they wish they could be more like them.

Other people look at some people and they may seem a complete mess, but they could be mid journey or maybe a mess is what they just seem on the surface.

The truth is everyone has suffered in someway, just some are better at dealing with it and some are just better at hiding it is all.

When i was younger there was a series of complicated situations that ended up with me living on the streets in London.

It was not for a short period either it was many years.

There was a ton of different events that took place while i was on the streets that nearly cost me my life and many more that put me in harms way for different reasons.

If you find yourself living on the street in a place like London, you best wise up extremely quickly or you will be someones victim, it will just be a matter of time if you don't.

During the day London is busy with people going about their business but not to bad for the most part, however at night that all changes.

I learned you can really see the true character of people when they think no one is looking and you should never judge someone because of the way they look.

Bad people can wear a suit and good people can be dressed in rags.

You need to look beyond these superficial layers.

You also best learn to trust your instincts quickly and learn to read the signs of danger unfortunately for some this can only come from experience and is partly to do with natural instincts as well.

A good way to survive the dangerous situations of living homeless on the streets was through community.

A lot of people don't realise but overtime you get to know people friendship circles form this can be from just naturally from encounters on the streets or where there is organised places of resources.

You can not trust everyone in these situations but if you can find a good group to hang with there is safety in numbers not to mention you can gather and share resources.

I managed to create friendships with many small communities on the streets because i was pretty good at at gathering and acquiring resources other people needed.

You can become very popular if you are resourceful in any situation you find yourself but if you want to really thrive even on the streets you need a sense of community.

This is all behind me now and i live in the countryside in middle class England married with children and grand-children.
Where i am using my skills of being resourceful again, so who knows what is next?
But what i do know is i intend to finish as strong a position as possible helping others along the way.

I believe resources and community is the key to a successful journey.
