Getting Ready
Been clearing the yard, building huts and turning over grounds in between sorting out some personal issues, as well as laying things up for the future.
I had chickens and ducks before, but quails are a new addition. I just got a couple to really see what it would be like and it is pretty much easier than other poultry and they need less space.
We plan to get more chickens i am just waiting on a bigger coop, for now we just have the one and she is doing a great job scratching the ground up while she fertilizes the ground.
She took an interest in the quails today for about 2 minutes then went back to tilling the ground. Chickens are amazing creatures when you think about it, the natural gardeners friend when applied strategically.
Chickens turn the ground into a fine fertilized soil perfect for growing vegetables it can save a lot of work, hassle and money on fertilizer.
If your going to use chickens in this way, then you may want to consider mobile chicken runs to keep them in the area's you want worked on.
The two quails will be joined by some others including a male for breeding purposes as i have buyers set up for quail eggs and meat when it's ready.
Chickens will be providing eggs and there is not a day i don't eat eggs one way or another. Anyways plus again i have people wanting the eggs and we have not even started setting up really.
Considering more ducks again too, i do love ducks they are entertaining and there are always people wanting to buy duck eggs.
Duck eggs are so nice.
