  • WARM GREETINGS ALL. GOOD MORNING, GOOD AFTERNOON, GOOD EVENING, DEPENDING ON YOUR LOCATION.

Humans have been plagued by hunger, diseases, and natural disasters. We will examine 6 of the many Pestilences.
We are going to begin with:

AIDS

It is estimated to have killed over 20 million people and counting. If not for the drastically expanded prevention and treatment efforts 68 million people would have died, between 2000-2020. Yearly it kills over 3 million people.

TYPHUS

The epidemic always accompanied a war. The first world war provoked a typhus disease that ravaged countries, with a death toll of over 20million.

SPANISH INFLUENZA

This lethal epidemic swept the world in 1918-1919, close on the heels of first world war, historians believe that the death toll is much higher than 20-30 million people.

MALARIA

In the first half of the 20th century malaria killed about two million people per year.
The greatest casualty is in sub-saharan Africa, where the death toll is still more than one million people yearly.

TUBERCULOSIS

One out of every three persons in the world carry tuberculosis bacillus. Each year approximately tuberculosis kills two million people. It is estimated that tuberculosis claims the lives of between 100-150 million people.

The last but definitely not the least, infact it records the highest human casualty

SMALL POX

The massive international vaccination program that began in 1980 succeeded in eradicating the disease. Before then there was no effective treatment for small-pox. It is estimated to have a death toll of between 300 to 500 million.

These statistics indicate the extent to which Pestilences has stalked mankind since the beginning of the 20th century. The statistics are necessarily approximate
