I live barefooted and naked, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i. I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I love and believe in Hive immensely, as anyone who knows me is well aware, and I want it to grow and thrive, both because it is incredble technology, and because of how great it's potential is to help so many people worldwide. Because of this, I will also draw attention to points of weakness or failure, that if exploited could potentially cripple the Hive Blockchain Ecosystem's ability to function. It's because I don't want to see this happen that I highlight this issue today.

Most things on Hive are indeed decentralized, but there are some extremely important services on which Hive depends which are completely centralized. One of these is DNS (Domain Name Service), which is how the web addresses that you type into your browser are translated into the numerical IP addresses that is the basis of how computers network and communicate with each other. This service is one that is almost completely centralized, and because of this it is a major weakness and (very) possible point of failure for Hive, for without it none of the various Hive websites would be accessible. The authentication services too, such as HiveSigner and Keychain for Hive, also rely on DNS to function.

So even if the internet itself is still operational, and Hive websites are up and working, people wouldn't be able to connect with them, or authenticate their Hive accounts. That's a huge problem. If the powers that should have never been decided to kill Hive, all they have to do is remove Hive domains from the top-level domain servers, and 'poof!' the sites would become completely inaccessible to the vast majority of people without technical knowhow.

The only way to resolve this glaring problem is for Hive and its essential services, including accessing websites and authentication, to be able to function and communicate without the need for centralized DNS servers. There are some social blockchain projects, like Bastyon and Qortal where this is already implemented to a good degree. To make Hive stronger and more resilient, I'd say that it would be a very good idea to learn from such projects, and find ways to implement similar non-DNS methods of name resolution into Hive's own functioning. I truly hope that this critical issue is given the attention that it requires to surmount successfully, so that Hive truly is unstoppable in every way.

Yesterday I did my best to finish up on Hive earlier than I usually do, as Ano needed my help with a couple projects. It was just one, but as often happens here in the jungle, another one popped up that also required attention. I was able to wrap everything up, and leave the Flow House just before 3PM. I did a quick round of photography for this post before jumping into work.

The first task yesterday was the unexpected one, which was securing the fence around the cow stantion (cow milking station), as it became apparent that Daisy the cow found the existing fence quite easy to traverse. So Ano and I spent a bit over an hour fortifying the fence. Once we had that finished, we moved on to working on the Octagon, which is in the process of being partially rebuilt. I did some cleaning, and we both worked at cutting and fitting some bamboo into place. Ano had to leave early to go to the Tuesday MKP (Mankind Project) meeting, so I kept working for a bit longer, cutting down and removing the branches from three more bamboo culms, that we'll put into place today.

After I got that done, I took a shower, got food, and headed back to the Flow House, to dive into my evening round of Hive catch-up and tasks, which I was able to finish fairly early. I stayed up later than I had expected, however, not getting to bed until almost 1AM. Because I went to sleep so late, and got up so early, I didn't get quite enough sleep as I would have liked. I did a round of token management and catch-up on Hive before finally getting out of bed just before 9AM to go make my superfood fire coffee, quite late indeed!

It's getting close to 1PM, so this is a good time to end this post for now, so that I can get my afternoon round on Hive to a good pause-point earlier again, as my help is still needed at the Octagon. Ano and Melekai are setting up a home-schooling program for their two kids, Iolanthe (11) and Elohi (12), who were both born and grew up here, and I'm going to be teaching them Botany and Spanish to start, on Wednesdays and Fridays, so I have to make time to come up with some form of curriculum. I do hope that it goes well! I deeply appreciate you all so much! Until tomorrow! Onward and upward, joyfully together! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
