#Wednesday Walk - A Pleasant Walk at "On Point Waterfront".

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

Last weekend was kind of an impulsive weekend. My wife ordered some snacks and we needed to collect them in Durban.

We found ourselves just above the Marine Parade (Golden Mile) in Durban.

We decided to go for a walk on Durban Beach, just north of the Suncoast Casino. I heard about a little coffee shop in that area and I wanted to see if we could find it.

We arrived at the spot where I expected the coffee shop to be, but we couldn't find it.

Nonetheless, I took a photo or two before we left this area.

One thing you can expect to see when visiting any of the beaches on the coastline is either a private airplane, helicopter, microlight, or sometimes, even a paraglider. People love exploring the coastline from the air.

This day was no different.

We were hardly out of the car when I heard the first helicopter coming over...lol.

Down south was the city of Durban. I find this kind of ironic. The beach where we were standing is north of the city, yet it is known as Durban Beach when you look at Google Maps. The Golden Mile consists of various beaches, starting with Battery Beach just below the Suncoast Casino.

From where we were standing, this was the view of the city, looking out over the Golden Mile.

We spent some time just strolling around and then decided to visit some of the beaches along the Golden Mile.

But that was not a good idea. It was extremely busy and crowded. People literally got dropped off in bus-loads...

Definitely not our scene...

Here is a photo from a previous walk on a quiet day. This photo was taken from the pier on Battery Beach, the northern end of the Golden Mile.

The next two photos were also taken during a previous walk.

About halfway down the Golden Mile, another popular landmark can be found...Mini Town!

But, back to this weekend's walk...

As I mentioned earlier, there was no way that we were going to get out of the car in an attempt to go for a peaceful walk in these crowds...

So, I continued driving down the Marine Parade until we got to the bottom of the Golden Mile at Ushaka Marine World.

I drove around Ushaka Marine World and went to On Point Waterfront, an entertainment area which is located right at the entrance to Durban Harbor where ships enter the harbor.

It was quite busy here too, but it was tolerable. Most people were gathered at the eating facilities, where we also had something to eat and drink.

But after we had something to eat and drink, there was lots of open space to stroll around.

Eventually, this boat came by, heading out toward the ocean.

After a nice relaxing walk along the water, we decided it was time to head back home again.

And that's all for today, folks.

Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
