#Wednesday Walk - Getting Close to Nature in Tala Collection Game Reserve!

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

During a recent conversation with @joanstewart here on Hive, I was reminded of our visit to the Tala Game Reserve earlier this year.

We only went for a day visit. But we saw a lot of wild animals in their natural habitat and I had a feast taking photos.

I would love to share some photos that I haven't shared before.

We were barely through the gate and not even the reception office when this little fellow greeted us.

Today, I would like to share some exciting experiences of getting nice and close to some of the animals. It will not necessarily be in the time sequence that we had these encounters/experiences though...

Let's start with the fun we had, finding some Zebras...and sometimes really getting close...

Just after entering the reserve, and leaving the reception office, we met with some Zebras. In the background, you can still see some buildings close to the reception area just before entering the reserve.

We then found another group and this youngster was not shy at all. Being on my wife's side of the car, I think if she wanted to, she would have almost been able to touch this friendly fellow. Not quite...but almost...LOL. That's just how close he was to the car.

In our family, we sometimes jokingly refer to Zebras as "Pajama Donkeys"...

We met this little family a little further on and this guy said, "You call us what...?"

No...only joking...haha. But he was busy eating and I got this shot just as was enjoying his next bite, So, in the photo, it looks like he is having a conversation...

Much later that afternoon, we found another group out in an open space...

Another close-up... This time not a Zebra though, but I caught him just as he was hanging out his tongue...

They look so peaceful, yet I would not like to have an encounter with those horns...

I was lucky enough to catch this guy as he was looking straight at the camera...

A peaceful scene at a dam...

An exciting moment when we saw this Kudu looking back at us from the bushes.

Another close-up...suddenly appearing as if from nowhere...

A little further away from us, but curiously looking at us when I stopped our car to get this photo...

And another sudden, yet nice close-up again...right next to us!

Let me show you another awesome encounter we had...

As we were slowly cruising along...I noticed this ostrich on the horizon just above us.

I noticed that he was slowly approaching the road.

I allowed the car to roll forward ever so slowly...until we got close enough to notice that he had his three little ones with him...

And I'll end today's post with some fun we had with a giraffe...

As we saw him, it first appeared as if he was about to enter into the bushes.

But then...

"Peek-a-boo!"

He enjoyed a snack from the leaves on the tree and then came through the bush again toward us and passed right by us...

I waited for a moment to see if we would have to move, but then he turned away.

In the next photo, you can still get an idea of how close he came to us. Here he was moving passed us already.

He then stopped and turned around, facing us again...completely as if he was giving me one past pose...lol!

And that's it for today, folks! Next week, I'll share some more photos of our visit to the game reserve.

Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
