I was pleased to learn about the Alien Art Hive Graphics Contest. I have several entries I'd like to submit. I'll start with one I designed that I feel captures the essence of the Alien Art Hive Community as relayed in their contest post: ALIEN ART HIVE GRAPHICS CONTEST!.
Alien Art Hive Graphics Contest: Entry #1
My approach to Entry #1 was to create an invitation to the Community from a well known figure from the dark realm. Instead of merely placing words on an image, I decided to utilize several of my fractal art designs to surround the Lord of Darkness. I placed him in a crystal ball. In it, he seems to be inviting us to see something. The theme seems to suggests that one only has to step into the Community to discover what's on the other side. I then included other fractals I created to assist in the invitation.
I've included another version of Entry #1 that displays a cloudy background. I accomplished this with a fractal I created in which I typically utilize as an overlay or background veil. I felt this version would complement the clouds in the crystal ball.
In creating this Entry #1, I searched for an appropriate free image to assist in my theme. The image needed to reflect a dark atmosphere. I feel I found the perfect candidate in this photo:
