"I stand by my statement. He didn't do it."
"How can you even be confident in your case to defend him, when he was the only one seen in the room during that incident!"
"How can you be confident in accusing him to be the only culprit when you let Paddington in the room all too suddenly after your walk!"
Meow!
Woof!
The couple looked towards the simultaneous sounds from their pets, Mittens, the initial culprit sauntered over with his tail high in the air, snaking between his owners' legs demanding to be fed. While Paddington, the dog, hunched over his water bowl, his bark only resulting from hearing his name be called.
And in the middle of the room, on top of the coffee table, swam a goldfish in a ceramic bowl, remnants of a shattered aquarium evident on the floor.
They had to buy a new one soon.
