The Ineffable
In the West, the "sound of one hand clapping" has become the archetypal Zen koan.
Such koans present us with a different kind of nonsense, sidestepping logical explanations with a pothole in the middle of a marble floor.
What this short video fails to mention is that the efficacy of the koan lies entirely within the minds of the participants. What seems like nonsense just happens to be the perfect trigger to let off a spiritual explosion that reveals the experience of the underlying void.
The mind is not entirely at one with the idea of dissolving itself, hence it needs a push.
It is another form of limitation-busting with mere words. You will also find interesting tales under Crazy Wisdom, but more on that next time.
