Please Take Some Zucchini! 5-minute freewrite prompt: don't look in the trunk

It's not Friday any more, but as I was scrolling through the posts on my feed, I couldn't resist writing a freewrite for this prompt.

When I was a child, my parents planted 'way too many zucchini plants the first time they tried growing them. We lived in a temperate climate, with plenty of rain and plenty of sunshine, and we had farm animals to provide good fertilizer, so those zucchini plants grew and produced like crazy.

My parents would offer zucchini to anyone who came by for a visit. I honestly don't know whether they ever really did this, but there were half-hearted threats made to just put some into the car if they didn't take any. So "don't look in the trunk!" would have been excellent advice for any unsuspecting visitors who came to our house during zucchini harvest season.... which goes on for several weeks! We ate lots of zucchini that year.

I still enjoy zucchini, and I still grow it. I intended to have six plants this year, but ended up with only two. It's probably just as well. If all six plants had survived, I probably would have been slipping billy-club-sized zucchini into my friends' cars when they weren't looking.
