My trips to the Grand Canyon are the most memorable times that I have seen strange rock formations. The first time Jeff and I visited the Grand Canyon we were en route to Las Vegas. It was very, very cold that weekend. According to my father who we visited the day before not far from Lake Havasu, Arizona the week prior had been a balmy week. It couldn't be helped, because we were there with Jeff's employee meeting and I was just riding along for the visit.
The rocks were fantastic and I struggled with the cold to capture as many photos as I could before having Jeff put my gloves back on my freezing fingers. Looking down into the canyon was breathtaking and something I'd only dreamed about before we met. I never had the chance to venture West of Pennsylvania. That trip was the satisfaction of one item on my bucket list.
The trees that jutted out from the rocks were sturdy and I was impressed with their tenacity. We paid for a whole day of access to the park, but we weren't there for more than a half hour because of the bitter cold and winds whipping on the top of the canyon and because we were going to Las Vegas for a night and a day.
Many people were there despite the temperatures and some even dressed very unseasonably. I believe they were Indian by their dress, Indian as in India, not Native American Indian. One man even wore shorts and sandals. I was flabbergasted by that as I shivered uncontrollably on the walk back to the heated rental car.
We visited the Grand Canyon again a couple of years ago again. I'm persuaded I could return to the canyon every year and never grow tired of the magnificent view. I wish that I could ride mules down into the canyon someday.
Have you ever visited a place that draws you back just to view the majesty?
