That familiar scent breezes close by
My countenance takes a sad dip
Painful memories resurrected
From depths long forgotten
Sweet aroma of pink orchids
Once divine and cherished
Quickly becomes a conjuring
Of horrors and lost love
Of confused moments
Becoming the image of another
My unique self forgotten
A willing sacrifice
In exchange for love and acceptance
Oh the shame of it!
For how long
Must I endure the pain and shame
Of a past life
That ceased to be
When I rose like the phoenix
From my delusion and weakness
A painful price to pay
Finding and knowing my true self
Then I found true love
Scents and memories entwine
Like a potter, shaping a beauty.
