My feet wobbled,
My heart panted,
My stomach groaned,
My eyes were dim,
It was the birth pang,
You kicked without mercy,
Finding a way to be out of the place that sheltered you for nine months,
It was about time.
Push! The midwife pacified me,
Argggghhhh, with tears in my eyes,
My feet were killing me,
I was tired but then I couldn't wait to meet you,
So, I summoned the courage,
Though faced with excruciating pain,
I pushed.
I had tears,
I bled,
But I smiled at the sound of your cry,
They calmed my heart,
For I know,
All the sacrifice was worth it in the end.
The pain birthed a life,
I saw your face,
And then I smiled.
