Unflinched
I glare at my nemesis from a distance
It's either now or never
I've been held captive for so long
I can't keep paying for the sins of my forefathers
It's either now or never
With every successive step I take
My mind is clouded with doubts
What if it all goes wrong?
What if I'm not strong enough?
What if I lose my life?
A little voice whispers in my ears
It's either now or never
I may not be the wisest of men nor the fiercest of warriors
But I rather die a hero than a coward
It's either now or never
My name would be remembered for generations to come.
My image would be sculptured and my praises sang
My successors would never would never again feel this pain
It's either now or never
This is yet another of my attempts at poetry. This piece is in response to the #pictureprompt. |
