Circular tower building and its surroundings 📷 Malaga - Spain

In the historic centre of the city of Malaga there are many buildings that deserve to be mentioned, either for their history or for their architecture, or perhaps even for their rarity.

In this case I came across a very particular building in the centre of the city which is listed as a building of historical interest.

It is disputed who really was the architect of this building, which is really out of the ordinary.

The legend on the sign next to it tells us that the architect was Guerrero Strachan from Malaga, but according to the architect Enrique Atencia, it was actually built by Daniel Rubio in 1925.

In any case, the architecture is very beautiful. It is situated on a corner, as if forming a keel, between Calle Sagasta 5 and Calle Herrería del Rey.

It is an irregular and very narrow building. But the most remarkable thing about it is its circular tower, which in turn forms the axis of the house.

On the other hand, it has very varied decorations on its windows, which makes it almost unique, as there are very few buildings with this style in Malaga.

This style is an alternative to modernism and eclectic regionalism, in the desire to create a style of its own in the city.

This building dates back to the end of the 20th century, but it has neo-Arabic forms, as this was a major feature of architecture since the 18th century and during Romanticism.

This emblematic building is located just a few metres from the Atarazanas Market, another important building. It is the most important market in the city, although in each district we can find one, this is the biggest and the one that stands out for its architecture and art.

From one of the sides of the market, where you can see stained glass windows with decorations alluding to ships and which are really beautiful, you can see the circular tower building.

Many other buildings are worth mentioning in this area.

Buildings for housing or renting, especially during the tourist season, are very beautiful to look at and very well preserved.

We also find one of the most famous shops in Malaga, called Paco Jose, which is characterized by the elaboration of delicious potatoes and dried fruits. Even during festivities such as Christmas, the owners throw packets of these products out of the windows of this corner as gifts.

Their shop windows are very colourful and the products they sell are of very good quality.

Many streets converge at the corner where today's landmark building is located, and there are many different types of shops as well as restaurants, cafés and bars.

Tourists wander through these streets all the time and all year round.

This circular tower attracts the attention of everyone who passes by, as well as the style in which it is built.

I hope you enjoyed the view. Best regards and see you next time.
