My jaw dropped with awe when I walked around the Bonsai garden and examined how carefully these majestic miniature has been grown. I was like inspecting a classic masterpiece. I must admit I fell in love the first time I explored a bonsai garden.
It was after our District Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off that my colleagues and I decided to go and chill at Kapenarra. Kapenarra is the newest coffee house in the city of Bogo, Northern Cebu. The place has a great and relaxing ambiance to dine and chill while drinking coffee. Yeaaayy Coffee! A drink I needed after our energy-draining event (something came up, I was unprepared and I was the host of the event-which hopefully I can share on my next blogs).
On our way, I was already imagining sipping my cup of coffee. I could feel how my throat felt dry screaming "hey, pour me some coffee!". I was thirsty and drained and coffee is the antidote! (Gulp)
But believe it or not, as soon as we entered the place of our destination, I forgot that my throat had been screaming for coffee, rather my eyes were fixed on the marvelous view of the Bonsai garden (just in front of the Kapenarra)! The Z&G Bonsai Garden.
Z&G Bonsai Garden
Z&G Bonsai Garden is a spectacular garden composed of over a hundred beautiful Bonsai trees grown and maintained by the owner of the Kapenarra Coffee House. This garden is created to provide a relaxing, refreshing, and natural scenery for coffee lovers.
Nestled in Dakit, Bogo City, Cebu, this Bonsai Garden has attracted not just coffee lovers but also plant lovers. Walking through the garden makes you feel you are in a hidden sanctuary while being away for just an hour or two. No need to go to the forest or mountains to reconnect with trees and nature because you will be satisfied and feels refreshed with the various kinds of Bonsai trees in the garden.
What's inside?
At the entrance of the garden, one would see the wooden red arc which in front of it is the amazing miniature great rock formation with few Bonsai trees, it's like seeing a mountain and trees on a plate. Inside the greenhouse, is the elegant and beautiful bonsai arranged perfectly. The trees were arranged by their kind and species. Some bonsai have grown their leaves and branches lush fully while others are just started as they were freshly hunted from the mountains.
There are tables and chairs also in the middle of the garden, so one can enjoy and take his/her time indulging himself in this wonderful garden while drinking up coffee.
I had given a chance to speak with "Manong" the garden staff and I was amazed by the things he shared with me about growing a Bonsai tree. He was the only one taking care of the garden. As he spoke, I could see in his eyes his love and dedication to growing Bonsai. To grow it beautifully one should consider its styling, watering, fertilizing, repotting, running, wiring and design. Imagine how Bonsai grower pours out their hearts in the process of growing this living art. I could feel it as I walked around the garden.
In front of the Bonsai Garden and the Kapenarra are the two winning masterpieces of the Z&G Bonsai Garden. These two Bonsai we're the entries of the Z&G during the Bonsai Exhibition held last year in Manila. One of which won 80,000Pesos and the other was a consolation prize. I only knew then that these diminutive trees have exhibition shows too! And it comes with big prices! Oh My God!
After I had a great time exploring the Bonsai Garden, it's time I went to the Coffee Shop, the Kapenarra Coffee House.
The Kapenarra House
With its brown and gray interior, the coffee shop looks aesthetic and homey. It serves coffee, lattes, and foods for dining in. Since Kapenarra has newly opened just this year, it is not packed with crowds yet. So if you go there, you will enjoy the privacy, the quietness, and the refreshing atmosphere especially if you want to enjoy your coffee in the garden.
There are also plenty of tables, chairs, and benches outside. People usually come to Kapenarra at night time. They said it was best to chill in the place at night time because of the lighting, the music, and the open sky.
We ordered coffee for each of us. We tried their promo which is the Narra Latte for only 99.00pesos. I love how it tastes, Swabe, Perfect, Just what my throat needed, 😉 We spent time talking over our coffee and decided to go home at 4:30 PM.
The place is perfect for a date and perfect for relaxation without spending too much and without going to the mountains to indulge in nature.
We were all having fun and had a blast with our quick escapade. And here are some of our snaps!
Time well spent.
