Hello dear friends, how are you? I hope I've been missed a little, but unfortunately, I have limited time to share and comment on the various posts in this community. I just wanted to share an experience I had in these days when I introduced one of the most important museums in Milan to a dear friend who came to visit me in the city. Since she works in the field of art, I decided to surprise her.
From my point of view, the Pinacoteca di Brera, defined by Milanese as well as tourists from around the world as the most beautiful museum, even though I'm not an art enthusiast and not very knowledgeable in this area. In this post, I also wanted to tell you a bit about the history of this museum, which was founded in 1776 by the will of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
Actually, just by entering the courtyard before passing through the entrance of the Pinacoteca, you can recognize the statue of Napoleon. Indeed, it was he who made this important museum even richer in works of art. Here, the greatest works of art from all over Italy converged, those that were not taken to France. In short, Napoleon's idea was to create a sort of Louvre here in Milan.
Naturally, one of the most representative painters here at the Pinacoteca and one of my favorite paintings is Francesco Hayez's "The Kiss," which has become the icon of the museum for several years. Unfortunately, I missed the exhibition that was organized about this painter back in 2011, but I hope it will be re-proposed in the future.
After visiting much of the extensive collection and admiring the greatest works contained here, I shared some photos of these beautiful works. We went to eat at a restaurant right next to the Pinacoteca di Brera called "Giacomo Rosticceria." Could I not have my friend try the legendary Milanese veal cutlet?
I had already been to this place several times. I don't know it well because it is known for its high-quality Italian cuisine, and I've always liked it for the atmosphere created inside this place. It may not be one of the fanciest restaurants in Milan, but it's still elegant in my view. We sat in the outdoor garden where there is much more tranquility and relaxation, and we enjoyed the veal cutlet with fries.
Here, you can eat many types of roasted products, not just veal cutlets with fries but also, for example, half a chicken or other types of meat.
But you might be wondering how much a veal cutlet with fries costs? Unfortunately, prices have gone up quite a bit in the last year. This dish alone costs €17. To some, it may seem like a high price, but in reality, we are in one of the oldest and most famous neighborhoods in Milan, so this price is perfectly reasonable.
Thank you for following my story. I hope you found it interesting and also found the information on prices interesting. Milan is an expensive city, and in recent times, even more so.
Best regards to all, see you soon!
