Hello everyone, today I will share with you a wonderful trip we had yesterday. This trip was very enjoyable for us and I hope you will have as much fun reading it as we did, so without further ado, let's start the adventure!
Today we will go to the waterfall in Rafoss, a region of Kvinesdal. This waterfall is really beautiful and worth seeing from the photos, so we prepared our thermoses and set off. The distance from our house was about 10 km, we drove here and there is a walking path that is not accessible by car, it takes about 1 km, and at the end of this path we would see the waterfall. We captured some great photos on the way to the waterfall, you will love them...
Rafoss
Even though this photo was taken with the Iphone 11 camera, it looks mesmerizing even in the photo, seeing this place in real life really gives you a giddy feeling. I wanted to start the trip with this photo because it was one of the best photos I took during the trip. We actually came here through the walkway that you see on the right hand side. Now I will talk about what was a little bit behind this place.
This is the entrance to the walking path, the private property of the farm houses you will see along the line, but since people do not have the right to block the walking path, visitors can pass through this private property and visit the waterfall as they wish. If you come here, do not think that this place is closed when you see this gate. Since the farmers have animals, this gate is there to protect them. They only ask the visitors not to let the animals out of the gate and they have already written this as a warning on the gate.
We are inside! There is a 1 km walk ahead of us and this is a comfortable walking path. At the end of my post I will give information about the things you should pay attention to before coming here, then I will also mention something about the walk. We took the shots you see in the photo below right after we went inside. The reflection of the mountains in the water is a sight we see a lot in Norway in general and every time we see it, we still can't stop ourselves from looking at it.
When you sail here with a boat or canoe, a line has been built between the two shores as a safety precaution, the purpose of this is so that you can stop if you get caught in the current, and it also means a warning. Because when we go a little further from here, we will see an artificial dam that generates electricity.
This dam generates electricity and probably meets the electricity needs of the people living nearby. Some people think that this is a waterfall and go back without seeing Rafoss waterfall. Don't make that mistake if you come to visit this place, as I said, this is just an artificial dam and Rafoss waterfall is a bit further away. We are heading there now!
As we continued walking, the sound of the waterfall became louder and louder. I really liked the view of the trees as I passed by here and I wanted to show you these beautiful photos.
Finally we came to the waterfall and it was much bigger and more beautiful than what we saw in the pictures. If you go to the middle of the bridge here you can see the waterfall very well, the bridge is a bit shaky but don't worry, it is very solidly built. At first we were a bit scared too, we even went up on the bridge one by one, but then a couple Norwegian couple came and I guess they realized that we were scared to go on the bridge and they told us that this bridge is safe. We were very impressed by the waterfall, you could even see water drops coming down on you and it was really spectacular.
Keep in Mind Before You Go!
If you type Rafoss Camping in the navigation, it will bring you to the right address.
Do not wear light colored shoes like me, otherwise you will be sad.
The ground near the bridge is soft, your shoes may sink in, I recommend you to wear boots.
Make sure your camera is charged, because you will need it a lot here!
After passing the waterfall a little bit, there is a road going down and there is a bench to sit here. The view here is great, you can watch the city and chill. Don't forget to take tea or coffee in your thermos because when you see this place you will definitely want to take a break here.
Lastly, don't pick every cute mushroom you see, it can be poisonous.
