Hi Everyone,

If you are visiting Tokyo, be sure to visit Shibuya Sky which is on top of Scrambling Square at Shibuya. Opened in 2019, the desk has a magnificent view of Tokyo, giving you a non obstructed view of the city. Before going there, be sure to book your tickets online ahead of time as there are a limited number of people allowed to go up at one go. Times like sunset are extremely popular and don’t expect to be able to go up straight away if you don’t have a ticket booked, chances are you will be turned away or be told you need to be back in a few hours. We couldn’t get a ticket just before sunset so we got one after lunch so there is plenty of sunlight for us to enjoy the view.

Everything you need is via email so we arrived a few minutes before our time and were taken to the front of the queue to go up the lift. As we arrived, we were told to take off all bags, scarves, hats, and cameras and leave them in the lockers. If your camera has a strap that can go around your neck, that is allowed. This is to prevent anything being dropped over the building or if it gets too windy, gets blown away. Once you have placed all your belongings in the lockers, you can then go out to the open.

There you see very tall glasses which isn’t the main part of taking photos but we still took one there as it's the other side of the building from the main view. Nothing special here so we took the escalator up to the top floor. Once you are up there, I suggest that you should start lining up to take a picture at the main corner. Depending on the time of day, the line can be pretty long. There is a professional photographer there to take a picture of you first then they allow you to take your own photos for up to 90 seconds. They won’t help you take any photos so be sure to ask the person behind you for help or something in your group to take turns taking photos. 90 seconds seems like a lot of time but in reality, it's very quick. The time limit is to allow the queue to keep moving, they don’t want tourists taking too much time at the best spot.

There is a lot of open area in the middle so people would sit around or lay there to enjoy the sun. It was in the middle of winter for us so it was pretty chilly up there but with the sun, it was pretty enjoyable. The kids had loads of fun running around in the middle and ended up resting in the needed areas. One thing to note is there is a bar there but it wasn’t open when we were there, maybe it will open during evening visiting hours.

After 1-2 hours of playtime up there, it’s time to go and head to our next destination. After we collect our stuff from the locker, be sure to visit the gift shop before heading down the lift. There are exclusive items just available at this store so be sure to check it out before leaving. Highly recommend visiting Shibuya Sky if you are in Tokyo, make sure to pick a day with no clouds so there is a chance to see Mount Fuji in the far distance which we were able to that day.
