Benefits of School Project [Eng/Esp]

School projects or learning projects could be said to be a relatively new methodology in the Venezuelan educational system and for me they have been a great success, although we often complain about the work that has to be done at home every time we finish one.

Happy #motherhood day, I hope you are feeling great! Today I want to tell you a little about the importance of school projects, about the closing of my little Miranda's project, which was yesterday, and with which we ended a successful second term of fourth grade!

As I mentioned at the beginning, learning projects are relatively new and although I can't tell you how long they have been implemented, since my son Matias entered school at the age of four, they were already being done, and over time their benefits in our children are coming to light.

As a mother of two I can say that at least in my children I have seen that this educational tool has been very useful, because it not only favors the learning of specific subjects but it also brings them great personal benefits such as those listed below.

This is thanks to the fact that one of the most used tools in the development of learning projects are the presentations; some are made in front of classmates and teachers and others, as in the so-called "Project Closings " are made in front of parents and representatives, with which our children gradually learn to handle stage fright. This will undoubtedly be very useful throughout their lives, not only academically, but in general in their adult life.

In the particular case of my daughter Miranda we have seen great progress, especially because although sometimes she tends to be a little nervous, as soon as she starts talking she forgets everyone and manages to get along without any problem despite having so many eyes on her. Which I find incredible for a 10 year old girl.

As we all know when we present a topic to others it is necessary to use some material to guide us, and at the basic education level it is usually done with sheets, mind maps, concept maps or models that help our little ones not to forget any point and expose more safely, although many, especially in the early years forget to make use of them, as happens with Miranda.

For now we continue to work with her so that she remembers that she has at her fingertips a guide that will help her to orient herself in the development of the exhibition and although she now makes better use of her material, she still lacks a bit of mastery, so we continue to work from home with practices prior to the exhibitions.

By selecting a specific topic to be treated during the entire "School Moment " or lapse, the child has the possibility, thanks to repetition, to fix and consolidate the knowledge that is imparted to him daily in the classroom.

This period in Miranda's classroom we were studying two different projects; one that took them to know the South American Continent and the other to explore the world of Sports and its benefits and I can say that if I ask her today about any of the topics she saw during this period she is totally capable of mentioning them and even when we talk about any topic that has to do with the ones studied in class, she always has something to contribute to the conversation.

Anyway, I could go on listing the benefits that this type of learning project has for our children, but I think these have been more than enough, and although as a mom I must confess that many times I complain about the amount of things they ask for during the development of these projects, I cannot deny the great pride I feel when my little ten year old girl stands up in front of a huge group of strangers to make her presentations.

She is a confident little girl just like her classmates who show us everything they have learned and make us laugh with their witticisms, we enjoy a magical moment with them as well as with other parents. So, hold on to the projects, but let them make their own plates and models!!!!

Los proyectos escolares o proyectos de aprendizaje se pudiera decir que son una metodología relativamente nueva en el sistema educativo Venezolano y para mí han sido un gran acierto, aunque muchas veces nos quejemos del trabajo que toca hacer en casa cada vez que finaliza uno.

Feliz día amigos de #motherhood espero se encuentren súper bien! El día de hoy quiero comentarles un poco sobre la importancia de los proyectos escolares, a propósito del cierre de proyecto de mi pequeña Miranda, que fué el día de ayer, y con el cual dimos por finalizado un exitoso segundo lapso del cuarto grado!

Como les comenté al inicio, los proyectos de aprendizaje son relativamente nuevos y aunque no sabría decirles hace cuanto tiempo se están implementando, desde que mi hijo Matías ingresó al colegio a la edad de cuatro años, ya se estaban realizando, y a lo largo del tiempo sus beneficios en nuestros niños van saliendo a la luz.

Como mamá de dos puedo decir que por lo menos en mis niños he visto que ésta herramienta educativa ha sido de gran utilidad, pues no sólo favorece el aprendizaje de temas específicos sino que les aporta grandes beneficios personales como los que les enumero a continuación.

Esto gracias a que una de las herramientas más utilizadas en el desarrollo de los proyectos de aprendizaje son las exposiciones; algunas realizadas frente a compañeros y docentes y otras como en los llamados "Cierres de Proyecto" son realizadas ante padres y representantes, con lo que nuestros niños poco a poco aprenden a manejar el miedo escénico. Lo que sin lugar a dudas le será de gran utilidad a lo largo de toda su vida, no sólo en lo que a la parte académica se refiere, sino en general en su vida de adultos.

En el caso particular de mi hija Miranda hemos visto un gran avance, sobre todo porque aunque a veces suele salir algo nerviosa, en cuanto comienza a hablar se olvida de todos y logra desenvolverse sin mayor problema a pesar de tener tantos ojos sobre ella. Lo que me parece increíble para una niña de 10 años.

Como todos sabemos cuando presentamos algún tema ante otros se hace necesario el uso de algún material que nos sirva de guía, y a nivel de educación básica se suele realizar con láminas, mapas mentales, conceptuales o maquetas que ayudan a nuestros pequeños a no olvidar ningún punto y exponer con mayor seguridad, aunque a muchos, sobre todo en los primeros años se les olvide hacer uso de ellos, como pasa con Miranda.

Por ahora seguimos trabajando con ella para que recuerde que tiene al alcance de su mano una guía que le servirá para orientarse en el desarrollo de la exposición y aunque ahora hace un mejor uso de su material aún falta un poco de dominio, por lo que seguimos trabajando desde casa con prácticas previas a las exposiciones.

Al seleccionarse un tema determinado para ser tratado durante todo el "Momento Escolar" o lapso, el niño tiene la posibilidad gracias a la repetición, de fijar y consolidar los conocimientos que le son impartidas a diario en el aula de clases.

Esté lapso en el salón de Miranda se estuvieron estudiando dos proyectos diferentes; uno que los llevó a conocer el Continente Suramericano y el otro a explorar el mundo de los Deportes y sus beneficios y puedo decir que si al día de hoy le pregunto sobre alguno de los temas que vió durante este lapso ella es totalmente capaz de mencionarlos e incluso cuando conversamos sobre algún tema que tenga que ver con los estudiados en clases, ella tiene siempre tiene algo que aportar a la conversación.

En fin, pudiese seguir enumerando los beneficios que tienen para nuestros niños éste tipo de proyecto de aprendizaje, pero creo con éstos ha sido más que suficiente, y aunque como mamá debo confesar que muchas veces me quejo por la cantidad de cosas que piden durante el desarrollo de estos proyectos, tampoco puedo negar el orgullo tan grande que siento cuando mi flaquita con sus diez años se para frente a un enorme grupo de extraños a realizar sus exposiciones.

Es una niña segura de si misma al igual que sus compañeritos que cada cierre de proyecto nos muestran todo lo que aprendieron y nos hacen reír con sus ocurrencias, disfrutamos de un momento mágico con ellos además con otros papitos. Así que aguanten los proyectos, pero qué ellos mismos hagan sus láminas y maquetas!!!
