On Valentine's Day, according to the Catholic Church, it was established to overshadow a pagan holiday in Roman times. In these dates parties to love were made in an excessive way.
It happened that Emperor Claudius II, a regent in Rome, prohibited marriage between young couples. Because he didn't want his soldiers to have ties, so they could be better soldiers. The Roman emperor stimulated free love.
El día de San Valentín según la iglesia católica, fue instaurado para opacar una fiesta pagana en la época de los romanos. En estas fechas se hacían fiestas al amor de manera desmesurada.
Sucedió que estando el emperador Claudio II, como regente en Roma, prohibió el matrimonio entre parejas jóvenes. Porque no quería que sus soldados tuviesen ataduras, para así ser mejores soldados. El emperador romano estimulaba el amor libre.
The Catholic priest named Valentin De Terni was well known for his evangelization, for his miracles and healings. Knowing the emperor's pagan intentions, the priest attended privately to celebrate marriages among young lovers.
Claudio II finds out about these actions and sends to arrest the priest. Who then tries to evangelize Claudio II, he was about to achieve it when the authorities sent an ultimatum to the emperor to arrest him and torture him. And they did it like that. The chief jailer mocks Valentine and urges him to heal his blind daughter. This one, who has the gift of healing, in the name of Jesus Christ, heals it. Then converting the jailer and his whole family to Christianity, of their own free will.
But even so, Valentin being imprisoned, is a victim of the abuses and punishments of Emperor Claudius II, by higher orders and he is secretly beheaded for fear of crowd reactions.
Pope Gelasius I, tries to eliminate the pagan holiday and establishes on February 14, in honor of this priest. Who offered his life for love of the sacrament of marriage.
But over time this party in honor of a saint is misrepresented by large shopping centers. They encourage the population to large purchases, to show love. The bigger the gift, the stronger the love.
It is no longer the day of love and friendship, it is the day of great commerce industries. Manipulating the masses to mass consumption to demonstrate their true love.
What in pagan times was used to eliminate by the establishment of pure love, resurfaces in later days until today, propitiating the love of money, the material, the ephemeral.
I propose, that instead of day 14, we celebrate this whole week as the week of the friend. Giving a hug, a smile, congratulations or a virtual gift, to all our friends in this platform.

El sacerdote católico de nombre Valentín De Terni, era muy conocido por su evangelización, por sus milagros y curaciones. Conociendo las intenciones paganas del emperador. El sacerdote asistía en forma privada para celebrar matrimonios entre los enamorados jóvenes.
Claudio II se entera de estas acciones y envía a apresar al sacerdote. Quien entonces trata de evangelizar a Claudio II, estando a punto de lograrlo, las autoridades enviaron un ultimatum al emperador para apresarlo y torturarlo. Y así lo hicieron. El carcelero jefe, se burla de Valentín y lo incita a sanar a su hija invidente. Este, quien posee el don de la sanación, en nombre de Jesucristo, la sana. Convirtiendo entonces al carcelero y a toda su familia al cristianismo, por voluntad propia.
Pero aun así, Valentín estando preso, es víctima de los abusos y castigos del emperador Claudio II, por ordenes superiores. y es decapitado en secreto por miedo a las reacciones de las multitudes.
El papa Gelasio I, trata de eliminar la fiesta pagana e instaura el 14 de febrero, en honor a este sacerdote. Que ofreció su vida por amor al sacramento del matrimonio.
Pero con el tiempo esta fiesta en honor a un santo, es tergiversada por los grandes centros comerciales. Incitan a la población a las grandes compras, para demostrar el amor. Mientras más grande el regalo, más fuerte es el amor.
Ya no es el día del amor y de la amistad, es el día de las grandes industrias del comercio. Manipulando a las masas al consumo masivo para demostrar su verdadero amor.
Lo que en épocas paganas se trató de eliminar por la instauración del amor puro, resurge en días posteriores hasta la actualidad, propiciando el amor al dinero, a lo material, a lo efímero.
Yo propongo, que en vez del día 14, celebremos toda esta semana, como la semana del amigo. Dando un abrazo, una sonrisa, una felicitación, un obsequio virtual, a todos nuestros amigos de esta plataforma.
