Sure, it isn't at all glamourous... but I had three stinky stinky under-spot price bids on silver coins pass through the deadline on a deceased estate auction. There were about 90 lots that I placed bids upon... ranging from silver coins and bullion, through to a few nice gold pieces. Quite honestly, I doubted that any bids would survive through to the auction deadline as these were the most horrific of stinky bids... mostly at about 10 percent under the spot price of the precious metal content... and at best AT spot price.
Still... the auction site is annoying to use, and the sheer volume of lots on offer had me hoping that at least some of the stinky bids would pass under the radar of other bargain hunters.... and it turns out that I did have 3 surviving bids that my wife picked up whilst I was away on tour.
The first was a set of 7 Australian silver florins... all from 1946 at 0.5 silver content. In mixed condition, and nothing that is spectacular... but silver is silver!

Another 0.5 silver content silver florin... but this time from New Zealand 1941. Also with a few pennies thrown in... not so interested in the pennies... and I don't have many coins from New Zealand!

... and lastly, a batch of 11 silver shillings from the first world war era... all of them pretty scruffy in condition, but all of them with the higher 0.925 silver content which makes it nice and worthwhile in terms of the precious metal content.
So... nothing as catchy as the last stinky round where I picked up a 0.999 silver content piece at under spot... but still, everything under spot price and lots of nice old coins to boot. It is likely that I'll slowly sell these off... to fundraise for nicer looking 0.999 pieces... or to get a war chest ready for the big community sweepstakes!
