Something that changed my mind about Hive Power

Hello everyone, a couple of days ago I saw an article of @antisocialist about why we should keep our Hive Power. You can find the original article here: @antisocialist/why-you-should-power-up-hive As I found it an interesting topic, I would like to share my idea about it. So I hope you guys enjoy reading my article and maybe I could spark some changes in the way you're looking at your Hive Power. ;)

Remarks about the article

Although he got a certain point that if noone would be selling his Hive, the price of Hive would climb and maybe it would achieve the price of $6 as he mentions. But ofcourse we all know that's not how it works. There will always be people who sell and people who buy, so in my opinion we should take the article with a grain of salt. Although it made me think: Why am I not hoarding more Hive Power? So congratulations to let me think about that and spoiler:Yes, Since than I'm stacking my Hive Power.

Why I prefer HP > HBD savings (at this moment)

Some days ago I also read a comment somewhere in which someone stated that accumulating Hive Power could be more beneficial in the long term if you believe in Hive than stacking HBD. I know it's kind of a topic nowadays with all the discussions of lowering the apr of HBD in savings so I'll give my stance on a part of the discussion. As I know too little to have a complete opinion if it should stay at 20% or get lowered. To come back to the comment I read, it was explained that HBD in savings get you 20% paid out monthly, so you know your returns in advance BUT HBD won't climb in price as it's an algorithmic stable coin. So it will always be worth +/- 1$. If you would invest $1000 in HBD, put it in savings and add your 20% to those savings, it would take you about 4 year to double your money. I know 20% of 1000 is 200, but you have to include the interest on interest 'Compounding effect'. After 1 year, you earn 20% on 1000, after 2 years you earn 20% on 1200 and so on, so after +/- 4 years your $1000 became $2000.

So if you think Hive could double in the actual value in less than 4years, than I would go for Hive Power, as you have the value of your HP that increases and you also get curation rewards. Often 10% is said, but even if you take a bit less as 10% is for really active people, than you'll have double your value + the curation rewards. If you think Hive could go x3 from it's current value, than it's even way better to hold Hive Power.

About the discussion of eventually lowering the 20% apr for HBD savings

As said, I prefer to hold Hive Power as I think it's very plausible that Hive's value would atleast 2x in the coming 4 years. So for me if the apr for HBD savings is 20% or lower doesn't change anything. As said in my first alinea, I know too little about the impact of lowering the percentage so won't give my full opinion, simply because I can't argue about it in either way.

You talked about something that changed?

Yes, my title was speaking about something that changed my mind about Hive Power. I have to admit that in the past I first gathered Hive Power as I didn't have any clue at all. Afterwards I figured out that I would need a lot of Hive Power to get decent curation rewards and the APR of let's say max. 10% for curating wasn't appealing enough to me. So I powered down until I had about 200HP left so I could still interact with blogs while having sufficient resource credits. Although I have to mention the powered down Hive didn't really go out of the ecosystem, as I used it to invest in second layer projects like @splinterlands and @wrestorgonline . But yes, since I read above mentioned article and comment, I promised myself to keep the Hive Power I get for blogging as Hive Power because I truely believe Hive could appreciate atleast 2x and I don't want to hive to kick myself for not having any Hive Power at that time. Last week I managed to celebrate my first Milestone: achieving 500HP and it keeps climbing slow but steady!

What's your opinion?

I would be glad to hear your opinions about investing in HBD or Hive Power at this moment in time with the actual situation. So please feel free to share your opinion! Especially when you have a differrent opinion as it could only help me to shape mine!
