For the past several months... or has it already been a year?... My family and I have been maintaining our own small potted vegetable garden. It's interesting how my parents and I all love gardening and we can actually grow plants quite well.
In the past, we only had some ornamental plants at home like orchids, roses, snake plants, and so on. However, our garden has become livelier since we started planting vegetables in pots. Why pots you asked? It's because we don't have enough space to make garden beds... though I really want to have one. Well, we used to in our community garden as well.
This used to be our community garden. Well, mostly my family and couple other neighbors used to maintain this area which is beside our house. Every weekend, I used to guide some of the kids in our community in doing gardening stuff like planting seeds or seedlings, taking our the weeds, watering the plants and other important things.
I usually take my day off on weekends, so it's my time to do gardening with them. However, after we harvested the last batch of vegetables from the community garden and got rid of the old plants we grew there, we really haven't planted new seeds or seedlings, yet.
My family and I got busy and the kids started to have more face-to-face classes, so they don't have as much time as before. However, we still plan to continue the community garden. Though this time, we want to plant something that don't really need a lot of maintaining.
We're recently planted some dwarf papaya seeds at home. The ones you see in the picture are the growing sprouts. Perhaps my family and I would just get a couple seedlings to grow in a recycle water gallon as pots here at home and the rest would be planted in the community garden.
The sprouts earlier has now become seedlings. We actually already gave most of them to Kuya Rolly (a neighbor) because he volunteered to be the one to plant it in the community garden. I haven't checked it out yet, but it would grow much faster there.
We're also planning of getting some cucumber or bitter gourd seeds to plant both in our home garden and in the community garden. I bet the latter is a much better place for it since we can create a bigger and wider arc for them to grow as both are vines.
I tried drying some bitter gourd seeds last time, but I haven't really planted or germinated them. We haven't bought good soil, yet. Anyhow, I'm excited to actually work both in our home and community garden again. It seldom rains despite it being rainy season, so I believe it's a great time to do so... but we'll see. :)
Thanks for checking! And I hope I could still catch the deadline for the weekend engagement... haha See you around!
PS: Here are some photos of our home garden... <3
