During my school years, I began experiencing difficulties in seeing the blackboard clearly. When i was in 5th grade, I would squint my eyes, which caught the attention of my teachers. During PTMs, they advised my parents to reduce my screen time and take measures to improve my overall eye health. I followed their suggestions diligently, including reducing screen time, consuming green vegetables, practicing eye exercises, and sitting on the front bench.
However, I was too young and unaware of the fact that I was dealing with myopia, a condition that causes nearsightedness. For a while, these measures seemed to help, and the problem was temporarily ignored. But upon entering college, I found myself engaged in lab sessions, making presentations, and practicing programming languages, which further strained my eyes. It became evident that my vision problem was no longer ignorable. Consequently, I decided to consult an eye doctor to address the issue effectively.
Last week, on a Sunday, I accompanied my father and brother to Lenskart, the optometrist conducted a comprehensive eye check-up. He used a non-contact tonometer to test my eye number, which surprisingly showed a reading of -6.5. Intrigued by the unexpected result, since it was our first visit and I had never worn eyeglasses before, the optometrist repeated the test multiple times. Without showing me the Snellen chart, he advised us to consult an ophthalmologist for further evaluation.
To ensure the accuracy of the eye check-up, we visited TITAN EYE+. The optometrist there also confirmed the eye number of -6.5 after conducting multiple glaucoma tests using the non-contact tonometer. Additionally, a visual acuity test was performed, further validating the initial findings. Then, the optometrist recommended purchasing a full-frame eyeglass to prevent the condition from worsening.
While my father and I were finalizing the frame for my eyeglasses, my brother participated in a colouring competition organised by TITAN EYE+. This nationwide competition aimed to reward the best artwork. It was an exciting distraction amidst the eye check-up process. Today, I received my eyeglasses from TITAN EYE+ with a blue light coating. The total cost was 4,093 INR, but it was definitely worth the purchase and the wait.
This experience highlighted the significance of addressing medical issues promptly. It served as a reminder that ignoring or settling for temporary solutions can lead to more severe consequences in the long run. By prioritizing our health, we can prevent potential complications and ensure a better quality of life.
