Helen Adams Keller was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and a lecturer who lived from June 27, 1880 to June 1, 1968. She was born with no disabilities but later on in life at the age of 19months, she contracted an unknown illness which doctors tried but could not cure. The illness made her both deaf and blind and she was both throughout the rest of her life.
Her early life was quite challenged as she had to force to understand a whole new world without sight and hearing. Her education begun at home where she learned sign language and at the age of seven, she had her personal and first teacher (Anne Sullivan) who became her lifelong friend.
Later on in her life, she gained formal education and in the year 1904 at the age of 24, she graduated, becoming the first deaf - blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Keller was so driven she learned to "hear" people's speech using the Tadoma method, which means using her fingers to feel the lips and throat of the speaker and methods used by people with visual impairment.
She wrote 14books , hundreds of speeches and received several honors to her name.
Why is Helen Keller my favorite Author?
Against odds, she was not limited by her hearing - vision challenge, she used that as a motivation to rise and became the very best. She left a mark in the world and devoted her life helping to inspire others like herself and more.

Helen Keller broke boundaries and I am inspired by her achievements, she is my favourite author of all times.
