I just came from another freediving adventure yesterday in Panagsama, Moalboal. And its not all happy and bliss. Besides the normal debris or plastics I get to encounter and collect, I was beyond disappointed with what me, a friend and @sabanalchristian saw - Ghost net entangled on the corals.
Ghost nets are made of rope or nylon forgotten in the sea or ocean. These ghost nets although not in use can still harm the marine ecosystem. Fishes might still be caught in it or corals will be covered by it and disrupt the marine life's home. My heart couldn't bear to just swim by. I assessed if removing the nets were doable and it seemed like it. Although there were parts really stuck hard on the corals so we really had to be slow and careful.
I'm not sure how long we were able to do it but I was just glad that we were able to remove the net. Hoping I won't find one again when I visit Panagsama, Moalboal in the future. The corals are home to marine life and it is but a must to keep them protected.
