Chives are one of my favorite vegetables at home, I have never tried chives before. However, because of my habit of consuming onion chives, I can already guess how these chive flowers taste. It is very rare to find chive flowers in my area, however, recently many farmers are offering chive flowers on the market.
Chive flowers have a very unique shape, if the flowers have not yet bloomed, they will be in the form of buds like young flowers in general. I was so happy to see the shape, so I took a selfie with the flower.
This vegetable made me quite curious when shopping at the market yesterday. So, I took the initiative to buy it, but there is a special difference between chive flowers and chives which I often enjoy. These chive flowers have a harder texture compared to chives. So there are tips that need to be considered when choosing chive flowers.
The seller at the market yesterday gave me a few tips, namely to choose chives whose flowers have not yet bloomed or in other words are still in bud. This is because if the chives have fully bloomed, the texture will be harder than flowers that are still in bud. The taste will be a little different, of course it's better to have chives that haven't bloomed yet.
I am very happy, thanks to his tips I have learned a lot about choosing good chives. However, yesterday I proved it myself by buying chives choosing both different things that were blooming and not yet blooming. And it turns out that is very true, if you cook chive flowers by frying them like this, it is better to use chive flowers that have not yet bloomed.
