The general public tend to take the path of least resistance. They don't want to start a fight over something as harmless as a mask.
Now, to be clear, the wearing of the mask didn't come out of nowhere. On top of that, this wasn't the first time humans were ordered to do something.
Long story short, people have been conditioned for a very long time to do as they're told. Regardless of whether or not people are right and/or wrong to submit to the wishes of their overlords, you have to admit the philosophy of complying is done so from a psychological-induced defense-mechanism.

As I was out in town today, as I was watching as too many people were wearing masks, I started asking myself, "Why are so many people still wearing masks in February of 2021, even in a small town like Shelton, WA?"
Well, to be frank, this wasn't the first time I've pondered this. I've not been wearing masks myself. I've gone into stores without masks. I've been speaking up about why I don't wear such a muzzle going back to like January of 2020 or longer possibly. Well, I was writing about Covid-19 since January of last year. And I've also been writing about a variety of related and connected topics and issues for years now.
But I was especially asking myself about the slave-mentality people can have when they choose to cave from a victim-mentality out of a perspective of fear. That is why I'm especially writing all this down right now. While sitting there in the truck today, I was thinking long and hard about this. I came up with the title while in the truck.
The Philosophy of the Mask is the beginning of a series I want to do focused on why people give into the perceived peer-pressure of the crowd. So, I want this post here that you're reading right now to be the beginning of a much larger conversation, a much more thorough series to cover the history of slavery in all it's manifested glory. I'm sort of joking as there is nothing glamorous about trafficking or slavery for that matter. As for me and my house or me and myself, I would rather die on my feet than to live on my knees. Also, telling the truth in a world of lies is a revolutionary act.
So, please consider this article you're reading right now to be a quick rough draft introduction outline preview of the topics of viruses, health, lockdowns, tyranny, centralization, slavery, puppets, the history of these different topics, philosophy, psychology, a combination of different topics, categories, subjects, ideas, questions, etc. I'm especially interested in how people justify and excuse bad decisions. This webpage here is just a starting point. I want to say a lot more. I want to try to include videos, links, quotes, books, ideas, photos, memes, web pages, different people, different things, articles, questions, etc, etc, in future posts of this series, to be continued.
And I've been thinking a lot about all of this lately, especially these past few days. I know a lot of it has to do with the psychology of an individual. It is similar to how bad habits become lifestyle. We see this in all forms of addictions to drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, taking risks, eating, living on the edge, violence, fighting, yelling, time management, the art of procrastination, etc.
The more important thing you should take away from this series is in regards to what you can do and what you can't do. Try to understand your limitations in order to discovery what you can major in. There are always things people can do to obtain and retain freedom. To some extent, most people do end up surrendering their rights and liberties for a potential promise of alleged security and safety and protection and free money and free college and equality and less pain and whatever else that people long for.
The truth of the matter is that anything worth keeping is worth working hard for. It is worth fighting for as opposed to simply letting others spoon-feed it to you as if you were a baby.
