Here my entry for the CCC's Street Art Contest #32 with this huge mural (1900 ft2 acrylic paint) done by Lacey & Layla :
Leif (1993-2019). Tribute to Leif with this mural and poem :
My Sushine
My Shadow
Spirit of Warrior
Kindest of Souls
R.I.P.
This project was done by Lacey & Layla, duo of artist formed by Lacey Jane and Layla Folkmann. They met in 2007 in Edmonton during their art study at Grant MacEwan University and finished them at Concordia University (Montreal).
Lacey & Layla worked always together on their murals. They have done about 60 all around the world (Honduras, France, Uganda...).
They generally worked with brush and acrylic paint on realistic portrait of real people because successful public art is done by building palpable relationships with local populations.
Zoom on this beautiful portrait, I like the pixelated effect given by the brick wall.
I couldn't find any information about Lief, who he was and why he died so young. But with this mural, we can't forget his name, beautiful tribute 🙏
