We're still admiring the works created during the last Breaking Walls, a Street Art festival held in June in Montreal's Hochelaga Maisonneuve neighbourhood. Today, we're back in the alley parallel to rue Moreau, right next to the mural done by Monk.E and Luvs presented at the Street Art Contest #154 with American writer Haks and Mexican artist Arlick.

Aujourd'hui, nous sommes de retour dans la ruelle parallèle à la rue Moreau juste à côté de la murale de Monk.E et Luvs présentée lors du Street Art Contest #154 avec le writer américain Haks et l'artiste mexicaine Arlick.

WHERE

Breaking Walls took place mainly on Moreau Street in Montreal. I'll gradually add the points on the map of the different murals, so that at the end it can serve as a map if you're in the neighborhood to go and admire them.

Breaking Walls s'est déroulé essentiellement dans la rue Moreau à Montréal. Je vais ajouter au fur et à mesure les points sur la carte des différentes murales, comme cela à la fin cela pourra servir de carte si vous êtes dans le quartier pour aller les admirer.

WHO

Haks

Born in Iowa in 1970, Hans Schmitter aka Haks began graffiti in 1996 in New York, influenced by Hip Hop culture. Today, he travels the world as a muralist and designer based between Montreal and Vermont. It's easy to recognize his style, as cool as ever.

Né dans l'Iowa en 1970, Hans Schmitter aka Haks a commencé le graffiti en 1996 à New-York, influencé par la culture Hip Hop. Aujourd'hui, il voyage dans le monde entier en tant que muraliste et designer installé entre Montréal et le Vermont. On reconnait son style assez facilement, toujours aussi cool.

Arlick

Right next door is a Mexican artist Arlick based in Mexico City and part of the paXman Clik crew. This year, for Breaking Walls, Mexico was in the spotlight and we're able to discover all the talent of these artists, as here with this very realistic portrait entitled Pequeño león (little lion). The background is really superb, a view of space.

Juste à côté il s'agit d'une artiste mexicaine Arlick basée à Mexico faisant partie du collectif paXman Clik. Cette année, pour Breaking Walls, le Mexique était à l'honneur et nous avons pu découvrir tout le talent de ces artistes comme ici avec ce portrait très réaliste intitulé Pequeño león (petit lion). Le fond est vraiment superbe, une vue sur l'espace.

Axe

I wanted to do a post on this mural but it's not finished yet. When I dropped by the week after the festival, chatting with someone from the Projet Tyxna, I learned that Axe, an pioneer in Montreal street art, was also managing the festival, preventing it from finishing. I went back mid-week, still at the same point. I hope he'll find some time to finish it.

Je voulais faire un post sur cette murale mais elle n'est pas encore terminée. Quand je suis passé la semaine après le festival, en discutant avec une personne du Projet Tyxna, j'ai appris Axe, un ancien du Street Art sur Montréal était aussi à la gestion du festival l'empêchant de finir. J'y suis retourné en milieu de semaine toujours au même point. J'espère qu'il va trouver un peu de temps pour la finir.
