For this weeks's CCC Street Art Contest I have another huge mural for you, once again from the alternative-ish district of Berlin Kreuzberg. To be exact, it's located on the Reichenberger Str. between Forster Str. and Ohlauer Str. on the side of another large apartment building that has no adjacent neighbor.
This time the image is of a more abstract nature. It is a huge circle featuring the letters in negative space, spelling out the hashtag #REPRESENT (which surprisingly does not lead anywhere on Hive - oh well). Surrounding these letters is a bunch of interesting detail, consisting of various forms and shapes. Some of them look like brick walls, others maybe a roll of textile, or a set of stairs. Others are purely geometrical, which may or may not remind the observer of certain objects you can find in nature or culture, but otherwise remain purely conceptual.
One interesting clue regarding the origin of this mural can be found in the lower right-hand region of the circle, on the sign saying Artwork by Klub7. So I searched it, and found out that Klub7 is an art collective in Berlin, which has existed for 25 years. It even has a radio station, and is pretty well represented on social media too. If you visit it's website you can see lots of other abstract imagery.
