Hello there my Hive friends. How are you today? I've been so busy lately and have a lot of things to do and fix. But, here I am again, writing and telling you my story.
Birthdays are celebrated only once in a year. For me, it's the most awaited day in a person's life. For we get older but wiser in our own little ways. As Filipinos, we have different ways of celebrating this momentous day in our lives. Some will go out and dine out with families in a luxurious restaurant. There are also other families who prefer to stay at home and cook good food for their families. We may celebrate it differently, but the essence of gathering together as one and celebrating this precious day with a healthier body is the most valuable gift we could ever ask for.
Last October 20, was my father's 60th birthday. We are so blessed that despite the challenges and circumstances we are facing, yes we celebrate the day with a happy face. We could not ask for more but a healthier and happier family gathering as one.
Months before the big day, I and my siblings planned to have a small get-together here in our humble abode so that we could also share with our relatives and neighbors the blessings we received.
My mother also helps in planning out everything for the big day. She insisted on slaughtering one of our domestic goats for my father. And because all of us will eat goat meat, we agreed on this plan.
As a gift to our dear father, we contributed an amount of money to have a small roasted pig or "lechon" as a thanksgiving for all the hard work and dedication that my father sacrificed for us to have a decent job.
Early in the morning, together with my sister, we inflated the balloon to be placed in front of the table. A simple decoration will do for his birthday. After inflating, we put the sign "Happy Birthday" together with his age "60".
In the afternoon, I drove my motorcycle to get the ordered cake for the birthday celebrant. Seeing in his eyes is the sweetest smile of a father who did his best for the family.
Around 5:00 in the afternoon, our neighbors and relatives started to gather at our house for an early dinner invitation. Coming and celebrating with us on this precious day is a memory to be treasured forever.
Seeing the smiles of our relatives eating and enjoying the food shared is truly an exception to our hearts. Our hearts are full because a lot express their birthday wishes to my father.
As Oprah Winfrey said, "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate."
There is more to celebrate in our lives. Think of the brighter side whenever you are down and troubled. Though we face problems and struggles, putting smiles on our faces will never let us go wrong. All these shall pass through.
