A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.
The day comes with a pleasant temperature of 16 degrees in the morning and some dirty clouds in clear skies without threatening rain in any way. The humidity button is very high and a slight fog covers the hill in the distance.
Today I manage to realize my wish that the virus has postponed to take a nice walk in Pozzuoli center. To do this I get off of in the morning soon and take the subway from Piazza Garibaldi.
Arrived at the entrance of the Phlegraean fields I went down to the station of Piazzale Tecchio in Fuorigrotta to take the connection to Pozzuoli Solfatara.
When I arrived at the port I was waiting for a friend who came from an island in the Gulf who accompanied me on my journey to the city centre.
The first stop was at the Temple of Serapis which is one of the many wonders you can visit in the city. Pozzuoli with Cuma were some of the many thriving cities remains of Campania and this excavation immerses you directly back two millennia in the middle of the city activity. Actually this place is not a temple but a Roman city market otherwise known as "Macellum".
After this stage we set out on the vast and bright promenade of the waterfront stopping to admire this beautiful cliff near a cave carved in tuff from the sea in millennia.
The city climbs up hills that emerge from the caldera that formed them during the many violent eruptions that occurred in the area. In fact the city is at the center of a huge active volcano similar to the Yellowstone to which it is just second.
At this moment there is a phenomenon of bradyseism in the lifting of the soil and the traces of this phenomenon are evident in the "Macellum" that I showed you before. In fact, as a rule, the columns are submerged in sea water until almost half their height are now totally out of the water.
Between one beauty and the other it was lunch time and after having visited many pizzerias we finally ordered two pizzas "Sausages and friarielli" that with our satisfied amazement were yummies.
After lunch we set off again for the picturesque streets where we stopped to admire how the church of the city had been restored and renovated. And then head for the harbor.
Back towards the subway I had the opportunity to take some fantastic photos at the Flavian amphitheater. Place where the Roman citizens enjoyed to see shows and bloody to the last blood between gladiators.
This plunge into the past has shown me how the imprint of ancient civilizations in our most beautiful cities is still #alive and I can tell the world that I finished #33 of the #iamalivechallenge with a scarlet color on my face.
Your DavidXXL greets you and gives you an appointment next to the next adventure described in one of my reports
