I hike a lot. Almost every Saturday I walk in mountains. It’s a good and healthy rest after a week spent working home office with a laptop and a headset. Foremost, I genuinely like it.
I am able to hike really long distances (I do not run, though). So my far my top hike had been 36km with 2600m total elevation gain. I had thought of breaking the 40km threshold.
Today was the day to do it. Perfect weather - about 15° mid-day, no rain, day long enough to give it a go. Most importantly - my friend “the Trapper”. He turns 60 next week and is a perfect companion for such a challenge. He would just keep walking, w/o long breaks, w/o losing time in mountain cabins.
And so we have done it. 41km, 2000m total elevation gain and 10hrs elapsed time. By the way - the number of steps is my personal best since I started counting regularly. And of course my new @actifit personal best which @pjansen will duly note in his next top 500 report.
