Thailand is rightly famous for its great streetfood. In some areas it is available at any time of day or night and there is usually a lot of choice along any road where there are a lot of people. Here's a little collection of street photos that I took in Thailand (Chiang Mai and Bangkok) based around the theme of streetfood with the focus more on the people than what they were eating.
Community Policing - a friendly policeman going beyond his call of duty to help prepare unripe mango for one of the excellent Thai spicy salad "yam" dishes.
Dining Table Etiquette - always take your shoes off before standing on the table to eat.
Eat Your Spinach - some kids would probably prefer to eat their shirt rather than vegetables even with Popeye setting such a good example.
"Eat shit and die" - this could be referring to fast food but surely not Thai streetfood!
Fly the Floss - not the easiest food to eat in a crowded market and I bet it sometimes ends up in somebody's hair. Or could it actually be a jellyfish?
Private Booth - back in the days when we still had public payphones they did make quite good dining booths if you weren't fussy about furniture.
Back To School - I think a lot of tourists would struggle to cope with these tiny little stools. Full marks to this guy for his street-level eating.
Handle With Care - I have no idea what was in this food-cone for it to be held at arm's-length, it could have been something very precious or perhaps something unpleasant, but given the camera around his neck I suspect it was more about checking photographic possiblities.
Buy a Bag of Bugs? - insects of various kinds are eaten in Thailand but they are mainly sold like this as a novelty item in any market that gets a lot of foreign tourists. Eating a packet of bugs is always a great story to take home with you. Here we had crickets, mole crickets, silk worms and waterbugs. They are all fried in the same way so the taste is basically the same, it just depends if you'd prefer the softer worms or the more crunchy crickets.
