Today I would like to show you a few photos from my walk through the old town of the Georgian beach metropolis of Batumi. While the city on the Black Sea is mostly known for its hypermodern architecture and is sometimes already called " the new Dubai", only very few visitors know that Georgia's second largest city also has a completely different side. The old town of Batumi offers an interesting mix of Georgian, Turkish and partly Italian flair. It also seems much more authentic than the overcrowded tourist zones. Only sometimes does a glance at the futuristic skyscrapers remind you that they are not far away. Otherwise, you are almost only among city residents going about their daily lives. So as a photographer, you find ideal conditions for street photography.
Heute möchte ich euch ein paar Fotos von meinem Spaziergang durch die Altstadt der georgischen Strand-Metropole Batumi zeigen. Während die Stadt am schwarzen Meer vor allem für ihre hypermoderne Architektur bekannt ist und teilweise schon als "das neue Dubai" bezeichnet wird, wissen nur die wenigsten Besucher, dass Georgiens zweitgrößte Stadt auch eine ganz andere Seite hat. Die Altstadt von Batumi bietet einen interessanten Mix aus georgischem, türkischem und teilweise auch italienischem Flair. Sie wirkt zudem wesentlich authentischer, als die überlaufenen Touristenzonen. Nur teilweise erinnert ein Blick auf die futuristischen Wolkenkratzer daran, dass sich diese nicht weit entfernt befinden. Ansonsten ist man fast nur unter Stadtbewohnern, die ihrem Alltag nachgehen. Als Fotograf findet man also ideale Bedingungen für die Straßenfotografie.
