Unos meses después, estaba yo jugando en mis aposentos cuando Herminio golpeó la puerta. Esperó a que yo le diera permiso, y entró a la habitación real, como hacía todas las mañanas.
―Su majestad ―me dijo después de contarme una por una las novedades del reino―, los campesinos quieren saber qué hacer con la cosecha de hongos.
―Pregúntele a mi consejero de agricultura, Herminio.
―No creo que pueda responderme. Pasa casi todo el día gateando, persiguiendo solitarios de Rodrigues, al tiempo que grita incesantemente la palabra plan. Creo que tal vez encajaría mejor como consejero de ganadería.
―Cuando Desiderio crezca va a ser un gran consejero de agricultura, Herminio.
Herminio asintió sonriendo. Luego, se quedó mirándome, esperando una respuesta.
―Dígales a los campesinos que ya es tiempo de retirar los hongos ―le dije suspirando.
―Excelente, su majestad ―dijo Herminio. Hizo una reverencia y comenzó a caminar hacia la puerta para retirarse.
―Herminio, una cosa antes de que se retire. Dígales a los campesinos que una vez que hayan retirado los hongos, construyan con ellos un castillo gigante.
―¿Perdón, su majestad?
―Lo que escuchó, Herminio, que construyan un castillo gigante de hongos en honor al rey.
―Pero, su majestad...
―Sin peros, Herminio. Un castillo gigante de hongos. Después de todo, yo soy el rey. Es la tradición.

A few months later, I was playing in my quarters when Herminio knocked on the door. He waited for me to give him permission, and entered the royal room, as he did every morning.
“Your majesty," he said after telling me one by one the news of the kingdom, "the peasants want to know what to do with the mushroom crop.”
“Ask my agricultural advisor, Herminio.”
“I don't think he can answer me. He spends most of the day crawling around, chasing Rodrigues' solitaires, while incessantly shouting the word plan. I think perhaps he would fit in better as a livestock advisor.”
“When Desiderio grows up he's going to be a great agricultural advisor, Herminio.”
Herminio nodded, smiling. Then he stared at me, waiting for an answer.
“Tell the farmers that it is time to remove the mushrooms," I said, sighing.
“Excellent, your majesty," said Herminio. He bowed and began to walk towards the door to leave.
“Herminio, one thing before you leave. Tell the peasants that once they have removed the mushrooms, build a giant castle with them.”
“Excuse me, your majesty.”
“What you heard, Herminio, that they build a giant mushroom castle in honor of the king.”
“But, your majesty?”
“No buts, Herminio. A giant mushroom castle. After all, I am the king. It is the tradition.”
Esta es mi primera historia en serie para Scholar and Scribe. Es una historia que fue pensada para chicos, aunque a veces tengo dudas respecto al resultado.
El idioma original es el español. La traducción al inglés fue hecha con Deepl, por lo que no aspira a tener méritos literarios. Es recomendable leerla en español para poder apreciarla mejor, al menos en lo que al estilo de escritura se refiere. Los problemas de traducción comienzan ya con el título, que es un juego de palabras entre el animal extinto “solitario de Rodrigues” y la palabra “solitario”, que en español hace referencia a una persona que vive en soledad. Entiendo que en inglés la palabra “solitaire”, que se encuentra en el nombre del animal (Rodrigues solitaire) no tiene el mismo sentido.

Para aquellos que aún no conocen Scholar and Scribe, es una comunidad de escritores que surgió hace unos meses dentro de la comunidad de PIZZA. Tiene dos tokens propios, Scholar and Scribe, y un montón de proyectos para llevar la escritura en Hive al siguiente nivel.
This is my first serialized story for Scholar and Scribe. It's a story that was intended for children, although I sometimes have doubts about the outcome.
The original language is Spanish. The English translation was made with Deepl, so it does not aspire to have literary merits. It is advisable to read it in Spanish in order to appreciate it better, at least as far as the writing style is concerned. The translation problems begin with the title, which is a play on words between the extinct animal "solitario de Rodrigues" and the word "solitario", which in Spanish refers to a person who lives in solitude. I understand that in English the word "solitaire", which is found in the name of the animal (Rodrigues solitaire) does not have the same meaning.
