I am working on a plan to fully fund and pay for a family holiday in July next year with STEEM. These regular posts will update my progress.
How does the money add up?
Today's post will focus on the financials of this crazy plan. At the moment I have 6.569 STEEM in savings. There is 34 weeks until my deadline. That means I need to save approximately 100 STEEM per week for 34 weeks to achieve my target. Is that realistic? Right now No, definitely not.
So, what is the plan? How on earth do I hope to save 100 STEEM per week when I may only have 10 - 20 per week as liquid payouts. Good question.
The way I see it, I will have to buy in regularly with fiat. The amount depends on a number of things - but mainly the price of STEEM. I am kind of planning this hoping that the STEEM price works in my favour. Ideal for me would be STEEM staying under $1.00 for quite a few months before climbing significantly around April/May 2019. The more I can stash now, the more that will be worth at higher prices. The STEEM target gets smaller as the price increases, so I hope that works in my favour.
The other card I aim to play is SMT's. My goal is to earn as much tokens over the next 6 months, and perhaps cash out some when SMT's launch next year. @steemhunt, @dclick, @dlike and others are already tokenising, with the off-chain tokens being converted to SMT's when they can. The value of these tokens is unknown, so I guess this is another part of my plan that is just based on hope and optimism.
In March next year, my real world job will likely pay me a bonus. Some of this will be put in to STEEM for this holiday, so that should help to make up the shortfall.
A lot of this plan is based on hope, but I do strongly believe it is acheivable. Time will tell I guess.
A small token of gratitude:
I believe that acheiving this goal will require my fellow steemians direct support. I also strongly feel comments and engagement on my posts will help. So, my first 2 posts in this series had 2 human people interacting with me. @cryptojiang and @jordan.white306 where both supportive of my efforts. I won't be able to do this all the time, but this week I want to express my gratitude with a share for each in @steembasicincome. Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated.
The Plan:
- Most of my liquid payouts from all STEEM activities will be put in savings. The only exception will be funds I use to buy SBI and incinboost shares. Any other crypto I can grind out (Cloud mining, faucets and so on) will also be converted to STEEM and put in savings.
- Regular Posts (at least weekly) about my progress.
- Any fiat I can spare will be put into STEEM and saved as well.
Recent Steem Powered Holiday posts from me:
The Goal:
- AUD $4,000 worth of STEEM - at the time I started this it was 3,669 STEEM
- Currently (based on todays AUD - STEEM price) it is 3,636 STEEM
When?
- July 2019.
What can you do to help?
- I definitely DO NOT want donations. Absolutely not, there are far more important causes to donate to than my holiday fund.
- Up-votes and/or resteems on these posts will help a lot.
- Encouragement is awesome and will motivate me to make sure this happens.
- These posts will all be put up with an Ad powered by @dclick at the bottom. (Below the TeamAustralia banner.) Clicking on these Ad's will help me out also, and won't cost you anything.
- Cheer me on.
Stay tuned for more updates about my STEEM Powered holiday, and have a great day.
Cheers,
John.
