Meet the goats! Part 8

Meet Screech! Screech is one of quadruplets born to Daisy in winter of 2015. Daisy decided she couldn't handle four babies (not that I can blame her), so Child Protective Services had to step in. Screech lived in the house for the first month of his life. Screech and Suki grew up together. She absolutely loves him.

His name is Screech because he was extremely vocal when he was little. He wasn't the least bit shy about telling us exactly what he wanted. He's still a bit of a crybaby.

There's nothing quite like the pitter-patter of little goat feet following you around the house! His favorite spot was hanging out in front of the wood stove. Sometimes with a serenade from my son.

The general rule for raising goats in the house is that when they're big enough to jump on the couch, they have to move to the barn.

He was not happy about that rule, and pouted for quite a while. He was even more upset when I made him move out and get a job! When we set his little brush herd up on their first job, he was fine until I started to walk away. Then he ran along the fenceline and cried for me to come back and take him home. It broke my heart, and I may have cried a little bit, but I steeled my nerves and left and he adjusted really well.

He had a lot of health issues his first year, and it took him a long time to grow up. He's still smaller than the rest of his siblings, but he's healthy and happy, and I think he's forgiven me for kicking him out of the house. I would have been perfectly happy to keep my sweet baby here forever, but space is limited, and he actually eats better on the job than he would here. At least I get to see him every day!

Next week I will introduce the other three. Screech is such a special little guy that I thought he deserved his own post. Don't tell his brothers!
