Association or connected thinking can be a blessing to humanity when it is properly utilised.
Isaac Newton’s discovery of the gravity has been linked to his experience of a falling apple. The falling apple prompted his connected thinking to finally come up with the law of gravity.
Based on a record, King David of the ancient Israel was looking at the sky and he praised,
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” (Ps. 8:3-4)
When David was looking at the awesome sky, he was prompted to associate it with his own insignificance and the caring Creator.
Personally, blue is my favourite colour. I like this colour because the sky is blue. When I look at a blue sea, and beyond its horizon is the blue sky. I am prompted to think of the Creator when looking at the blue sky.
Therefore, association is not so much an indication of our powerful brain as it is to humble us in view of our own limitation. With such awareness, we can explore the truth further with a humble attitude and hopefully to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
