Trump is so close to delivering on his election promise - withdrawing from the Middle East. Will he succeed?
According to the Iraqis, the Iranians gave them a warning about the attacks on the two bases. The US withdrew their forces and no casualties were recorded.
While the Iranian media claims that their attacks cost US some 80 lives and the politicians still chant Death to America it's obvious that their attack has been symbolic and for the internal use only. I expect the Iranian regime to continue their rhetoric but I don't expect further attacks at this point.
Trump invited NATO, China and Russia to join him and make a new deal with Iran while mentioning that by gaining the energy independence, USA doesn't need the Middle-eastern oil.
There's a chance that he'll withdraw the forces from the region, but it's too early to rejoice. A few key players that have the opposite plans have not made their moves yet:
- Military Industrial Complex - war is good, no matter where and with whom
- Israel - a weak Iran is good Iran
- Shia Militants - Soleimani still has some true fans that will seek revenge with or without Iran
If any of the above mentioned parties escalates the situation, Trump will have no choice but to go to war.
