I approach this carefully, because generally speaking, we have Very Professional Police here in Tulsa. One of the reasons for this is that Police here are held to the same standard as Citizens. If they break the law, they are held liable, the same as anyone else.

A Tulsa police officer was arrested for texting and driving:

No one is above the Law, and it is illegal to text and drive here.
That said a local officer was arrested for texting while driving, and being involved in a wreak. The other car crossed the center line, and hit him. The Officer was arrested for texting and driving, even though the other driver was the one that caused the wreak.
“There was nothing that this officer could have done to prevent this collision from happening,” Officer Pierce said.
But here, texting while driving is enough. I have texted and driven, but I use the voice to text, and text to voice software in my phone; and my eyes never leave the road. It is proper that the Officer was arrested as anyone else would have been.
There is a known reason, but not an excuse:
It’s tough because police officers have a lot of things to take care of, but it seems like texting and driving is a safety hazard no matter who does it.
I am glad he was arrested, but I am also glad he is on the job too. It is a tough job, I don't think I could do myself. When the SHTF, it will really suck to be a Policemen!
