It is Summer time! The hot and humid weather is coming and I'm sure many of you will enjoy a walk down a river to enjoy the cooling effect and comforting breeze.
Most of the rivers that we came across in Japan were near attraction sites in the suburban or rural areas. These rivers were mostly small, shallow and filled with rocks and pebbles. We often enjoy strolling along the rivers, or sitting by the river bay and soaking our feet in the cool running waters.
The most memorable river we visited had to be the one at Geibikei Gorge. It was the first time we took a boat ride in winter and the experience was rewarding, awesome views and great companion.
Being a mountainous country, there are many bigger rivers up in the highlands that we had not been to. So here are some pics of the smaller rivers for you.
On a side note. There was a big earthquake measuring 6.1 that occured near Osaka yesterday. News reported that hundreds were injured and some areas suffered quite extensive damage. We hope a speedy recovery for those injured and rebuilding of roads and houses can begin soon.
