Recommended Skincare Products from Japan - Part 1 - [KOSE]

I have always love Japanese skincare products, which gives a natural look, with mild and light ingredients that compliment even the most sensitive skin.

Throughout the years, I have built up a collection of my favourite skincare products that are highly recommended for the humid climate. They are either sold exclusively in Japan or more economical to buy directly from Japan.

You can easily find KOSE products in almost all pharmacies in Japan. KOSE is typically at least 15% to 20% cheaper than in Singapore and Malaysia, depending on exchange rates. During Hatsu-uri (first sale of the New Year) on the first week of January, the discount value of KOSE Fukubukuro (Happy bag) can as high as 30% to 40%. My recommendation for KOSE products are:

I. KOSE Sekkisei Supreme White Lift Sheet Masks

You can be assured of the high quality of Sekkisei Supreme White Lift Sheet Masks. I like it that the size of their mask is made for Asians, with a comfortable level of wetness, without any messy drip from the mask.

These masks are also surprisingly offered at an affordable price which is about ￥500 per piece. They come in packs of 5 and 10 pieces. Exclusively sold only in Japan, they make great souvenirs.

II. KOSE Sekkisei Lotion Mist

The compact bottled Sekkisei Lotion Mist is a star-buy souvenir whole year round. During winter, spring and autumn, putting it on provides an added layer of moisture to your skin. In summer, it provides an instant revitalisation to your warm skin.

The best deal is that it is almost 50% cheaper to buy from Japan. Definitely, a great addition to your bag but do remember to declare this spray bottle when carrying it onboard your flight.

III. KOSE Sekkisei Sun Protect Essence Milk SPF 50+/PA++++

This waterproof sunscreen is great for combination skin with its light and great absorption formula, without leaving any shine or grease even after long hours.

I like it that it also leaves behind a sheer layer of soft finishing, which somehow brightens up your complexion.

IV. KOSE SUNCUT Super Water Proof Super Perfect UV Protect Spray SPF50+

I always feel this UV spray is a godsend invention to maintain your skin fairness under hot summer weather all year round. It’s extremely easy to use: just spray on your hair (UV protection), face, body, arms and legs.

The light odourless waterproof formula is neither sticky nor oily and is the perfect solution to stay comfortable while being protected from the harsh sun. It is also priced way cheaper in Japan, and you can get the big spray size of 250g for home-use and smaller 50g size for outdoor use.

V. KOSE Sekkisui 7-11 Products

KOSE has another more affordable range – KOSE Sekkisui with a lower dosage of ingredients, sold exclusively in all 7-11 outlets. Their small packaging makes it a great travel and gift set for tourists.

I especially love their winter limited edition facial masks soaked with 30ml of Kose Sekkisui lotion, which is highly raved upon. With just one mask, it is sufficient to restore a well-moisturized complexion for at least the next few days.
