We took a Nankai train from Wakayama City to Kada is famous for Sea Bream (Tai in Japanese). We were surprised to find that the two carriage train had been completely redecorated with this theme. All the hanging strap handles were made of wood and shaped like fish, except for one that was heart shaped and lucky. Medetai means congratulations in Japanese so Tai fish are associated with luck and celebration. There were printed fish on the floor and a wooden Tai plaque with a heart you could touch for luck. The whole train was cute (kawaii in Japanese). Obviously a lot of marketing thought and money had gone into this, but it seemed a great way to promote Kada.
