John Coltrane - Jazz saxophonist (1926 – 1967)

Friday is the classic jazz club day and today I want to bring to your attention the most important saxophonist John Coltrane. His work in jazz music ranged from early bebob and hardbob through modal music to free Jazz, in his last years spirituality became more and more important in music. "Sheets of Sound", the soundscapes are his trademark, an accumulation of sounds at incredible speed, with the effect of dissolving rhythmic structures and ambiguous tonal patterns.

Freitag ist der klassische Jazzclub Tag und ich möchte heute den für mich bedeutendsten Saxophonisten John Coltrane zu Gehör bringen. Sein Wirken in der Jazzmusik reichte vom frühen Bebob und Hardbob über Modale Musik hin zu Freejazz, in seinen letzten Jahren wurde die Spiritualität in der Musik immer mehr von Bedeutung. "Sheets of Sound", die Klangflächen sind sein Markenzeichen, eine Anhäufung von Tönen in unglaublicher Geschwindigkeit, mit dem Effekt der Auflösung von rhythmischen Strukturen und vieldeutigen Tonalen Mustern.
