Bradgate Park Sunrise

Bradgate Park in Leicestershire, despite the name, is a rugged wilderness around 800 acres in size. The highest point of the park, around Old John Tower, is surrounded by rocky outcrops that are some of the oldest rocks known in the UK.

These rocks, and Old John Tower itself lent some handy foreground interest to the view of the rising sun over nearby Leicester.

Not far from Old John Tower is the war memorial. On this particular day the windchill was around -10 so I didn't linger too long in this part of the park!

After sunrise there was just time to capture a few golden hour shots of a small, icy lake before heading back to warm up.
