Stroll By The City

I decided to play with parker ink, to take a break from blue (chelpark) one today. The brown paper that I have been using recently has surprisingly served me really well till now and has also been a great tool for experimentation.

Watercolors are harder to sustain on this surface as they seem to vanish/get absorbed too quickly if are diluted with bigger portions of water. Therefore, I used very little water to achieve the effect on window panes. It was a great pairing with ink and added volume to the overall illustration. Using quick and confident strokes made a HUGE difference here because it looks as if they were done from a calligraphy (ink) brush. Would like to try something like this again! What do you think?
