I'm back and travelling around Bonito. Please follow my posts!

From The Pantanal I headed to the eco tourism capital of Brazil - Bonito. This beautiful municipality is located in Mato Grosso do Sul. Everything here is very controlled and regulated in terms of the numbers of tourists that are allowed in to any particular destination per day.
This careful control on tourism is one of the reasons that Bonito has remained so beautiful and so clean. It really is a great example of sustainable eco tourism working.

The biggest attraction in Bonito is the water. The waters around Bonito contain high levels of calcium and this means that it is crystal clear. If you combine that with the hundreds of species of fish swimming around you get an idea of why it is such a draw for tourists.
Over my next couple posts I'll show you how Bonito got its name!

In this series of posts I'm going to cover my day spent in an underground cave, floating down the rivers with snorkel gear, abseiling into a cave, and riding ziplines into the beautiful waters.... stay tuned!
